Random Thoughts on Having Just Witnessed History...

~ I woke up this morning so thankful that I live in a country that holds elections, has term limits, and a checks and balances system.

~ Brian and I came to the conclusion this afternoon that we would be okay with the election either way--both candidates have things about them that we like...and things we don't.

~ Senator McCain gave (in my opinion) a very classy concession speech.

~ We let our children stay up way past the point of "good parenting" bedtimes to watch President-elect Obama give his acceptance speech.  They may not remember what he said, but they will be able to say some day that they watched it on TV (and saw Oprah cry half a dozen times).

~  It was encouraging to see high (or higher than normal) voter turnout.

~ I am really shocked that I wasn't asked for some sort of identification when I went to vote.  And my friend commented that her adult daughters who haven't been residents of my great state in a long time and are registered voters in other states, are still listed as registered voters here.  Considering I have to show ID to buy Dristan, you'd think I'd have to show some to vote for the next president of the United States.

~ I enjoyed my free cup of coffee from Starbucks for taking care of my civic responsibility and voting.  Very cool, Starbucks!

Anyway--Happy Election Day, Everyone!!
