Last night, as the kids were getting ready for bed, my 13YO came upstairs looking for the paper towels. Now, needing paper towels for something in the bedroom always makes me nervous. So I asked.
"What do you need paper towels for?"
This is apparently how the story went down:
Earlier in the afternoon, my 6YO, who has a propensity for drama, was upset about something. I don't remember what. And, being the child she is, she said something dramatic. I don't remember what. But apparently it was funny, because my 13YO and I laughed. I vaguely remember this.
My favorite book in the world is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
There is an incident in the book where one of the older sisters, Jo, does something to offend the "baby princess," Amy. Amy vows to make Jo sorry for her act and proceeds to commit a gross act of vandalism against Jo's property.
Yesterday afternoon, my youngest daughter pulled an "Amy." She calmly went downstairs, took her Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers lip gloss and proceeded to rub it all over the handles of the 13YO's dresser as payback for getting laughed at.
Okay--off the record?? I am really quite impressed--and terrified--that she has the creativity and imagination to come up with a stunt like that. And after my 13YO went downstairs to tell my 6YO to come upstairs--WITH her lip gloss--I laughed so hard I practically wet my pants!
For the record--the Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers lip gloss is now in the trashcan. And the 6YO spent the better part of the evening cleaning lip gloss off of dresser drawer handles.
And I am currently inspecting everything that belongs to me very carefully, as I now have two strikes against me.
Making the fatal mistake of laughing at my daughter, and making her throw away her coveted lip gloss!
