After having several weeks of temperatures fluctuating between the teens and twenties, we were treated to a weekend of 60 and 70 degree weather! We took advantage of this opportunity to catch up on some chores that had been negleted due to Prairie Nutcracker rehersals...traveling...Prairie Nutcracker rehearsals...a new full-time job...did I mention Prairie Nutcracker rehearsals? Namely--raking leaves. Here are some photos of the "family fun." Granted, the colors would've been so much better had we done this activity when normal people do, but you get the idea.
Ride 'em, Cowboy! Those leaf bags make the best horses!
The kids were a great help, but after awhile, they got a little bit antsy. I told them I would pay them each a dollar if they raked their leaf pile into the shape of a recognizable continent.
(Here's my son, holding up the visual aid)
While his brother and sister rake the leaves into the shape of South America.
Once they got done with that, they did a very nice pile shaped like the continental United States. Do you think I can count this as a geography lesson?

Wow. You have to be pretty creative to make leaf raking educational. Of course, the offer of money never hurts.
