Since Hannah [Nathan] Moved Away

On Tuesday, my brother made the big switch from the City of Fountains to the Big Apple.  The City of Fountains is a mere 3 hours (2.75 the way I drive) from my abode.  The Big Apple...an expensive plane ticket.

I, as a parent and an elementary teacher, am a lover of children's books.  Judith Viorst is one of my favorite authors.  I have taken liberty with one of her poems:

The tires on my bike are flat.
The sky is grouchy gray.
At least it sure feels like that
Since Hannah [Nathan] moved away.

Chocolate ice cream tastes like prunes.
December's come to stay.
They've taken back the Mays and Junes
Since Hannah [Nathan] moved away.

Flowers smell like halibut.
Velvet feels like hay.
Every handsome dog's a mutt
Since Hannah [Nathan] moved away.

Nothing's fun to laugh about.
Nothing's fun to play.
They call me, but I won't come out
Since Hanna [Nathan] moved away.

We'll miss you, Snoopy! Can't wait to see you on Feb. 19!
