~He gave up two years of single college social life to marry me.
~He has hardly ever balked about changing diapers, getting up in the middle of the night, or pulling his weight with the kiddos.
~He put his dreams of financial security on hold for 12 years so that I could stay home with our kids and has faithfully paid my portion of our student loans as well as our consumer debt with very minimal complaining.
~He worked faithfully for 8 years at a job where he traveled much of the time, there was little potential for upward mobility, and the company didn't compensate him the way he deserved because he believed in his responsibility to provide for us.
~When, after 12 years of "not earning my keep," I was offered the dream job of working at home full-time and actually CONTRIBUTING to the family finances, He told me it was my decision. And has told me time and time since then that if I want to quit, I can. I don't. But still...
~He puts J to bed every night. And sings to her. As he did with all of the other kiddos when they were little.
~He takes a personal day for each of their birthdays to do something special just with them.
~(TMI) He puts up with my PMS--Perpetual Menstrual Syndrome.
~Finally, two years ago, a smart company realized the wonderful qualities in this man and snatched him up.
~In the last two-and-a-half years (actually the last 6 months), he has received two fabulous promotions--moving from a product manager to most recently--Director of product management.
~He has bounded up the corporate ladder, and even though he works hard at his job and is gone more than we want him to be, he is NOT a workaholic. He still takes time to play catch with the boys, play Polly Pockets and paper dolls with J, go to ALL of M's dance things, and date me, on occasion!
So, even though his company can show their appreciation for the great guy he is in ways that we cannot--believe me when I say that if we could put a price on our pride in him and appreciation for him, it would be worth way more!
Congratulations, Honey. We are all so very proud of you and love you very much!
