Out of the Mouths of Babes--(0r Six/Seven-Year-Olds)

I heard this story secondhand, so if I botched it, Jamie, feel free to correct me, but I "got nuthin' ," so I'm gonna share this!

My daughter and her dear friend were having a conversation in my dear friend's car. Somehow the conversation switched to guns. I guess because my husband has an old, rusty, from-his-childhood, up-high-in-the-garage, completely out of ammunition BB gun.

My friend, being the awesome mom she is, used this moment to give an important lesson on gun safety on how you NEVER NEVER NEVER touch guns.

Somehow, this morphed to my daughter saying, "If you kill someone, you get the death penalty."

My daughter's friend: "What's the death penalty?"

My daughter: "It's where, if you kill someone, "THEY" get to kill you back."

Hmmm. Interesting, isn't it? How many times have I told my kids that if someone hits them, it doesn't give them the right to hit back.

At what point does this rule change??
