My friends, Jamie, and Stephanie (who are super moms, but I love them, anyway) are blogging about their spring break adventures day-by-day. They have wonderful things planned for their kids. I would love to live in their houses. So I thought I would post this so they could know what a great job they are doing!
Spring Break Day 1
Wake up kids at 8 in the morning to start "school"--remind them as they complain that it is spring break that they took theirs all the times that they have taken advantage of me working by not doing any schoolwork at all.
Listen to kids complain that there is no cereal in the house--run to Daylight Donuts (it is spring break, after all) for a simple-carb, gluten-filled, breakfast guaranteed that they will be passed out at 10 from a sugar coma.
Chase kids around to do their work.
Check work email--even though I am supposed to be on vacation.
Make the kids help me clean the kitchen and the livingroom and load the dishwasher. We have no clean spoons.
Take daughters to dance. No spring break at the dance studio, either.
Let kids fall asleep way too late in my room (Dad is out of town) so that they will be nice and grumpy for--
Spring Break Day 2
Same as Day One--still haven't gone to the store--make cinnamon toast for breakfast and experience a sugar coma at 10 very similar to the one from yesterday.
Get some school done--not near enough--and reclean the kitchen and living room. My goal to work on two rooms a day for the entire week isn't going according to plan. I was kind of hoping to be able to work on two different rooms each day.
Drive to dance, yet again.
Spring Break Day 3
I am all out of motiviational "oomph." The two wiggly kids in my bed last night drove me to bunk in with my oldest. I woke to my alarm buzzing at a rediculous hour, and couldn't get back to sleep. Instead, I curled up on the couch and read an entire novel until 9:30 this am.
It is 10:00--no school is being done, no cleaning is being done, I am blogging, the boys are playing PS2, and my girls are watching TV. Everyone is still in their pjs.
I am pulling out my one "good mom" card and we are going to see Horton Hears a Who this afternoon.
So when you don't see us at the pool this summer, you will know why--we're paying for our spring break folly!
Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise--Proverbs 6:6
