Arrrgggghhh!!

Just a question--How inappropriate would it be to leave a "Phone tag--You're it!" message on the answering machine at the doctor's office?

For those of you who don't know my "doctor" history, I have been spoiled. Beyond belief! Up to this point, I have either gone to church with the receptionist at the doctor's office, or had the privilege of having one of my best friends be the doctor's nurse. In short, I am kind of used to "doctor's office-patient communciation" being at a minimum. I call, get appointment. End of story. Boy, has my world changed!

Monday--go early to appointment to fill out paperwork specifically related to how I would like to be contacted. Home phone, please. If no answer on home phone, please call cell phone. If I don't answer, no specific information, please. Just ask for me to return call.

Tuesday--call from doctor's office--left detailed message with child (I am, of course, AMAZED that the child remembered to relay the message to me) about me needing to reschedule a future appointment.

Later Tuesday--I call doctor's office. Get answering machine. Leave message--Please call me back. If I don't answer, please call my cell phone. I leave both numbers WITH area code.

9:00pm Tuesday--I check answering machine. Message from doctor's office about needing to reschedule appointment. Can I call them back Wed. morning? I check cell phone. No missed calls (I did say to call my cell if they couldn't reach me, didn't I? Or was I just thinking that?).

Today--I call doctor's office. I have my "answering machine voice" all ready to go. A LIVE person answers the phone. I am so shocked I don't know what to say at first. I ask to reschedule appointment. After 3 "Hold ons...(with no muting of the phone, thereby hearing the entire office background conversation)" I get told that the computers are down--they can't reschedule my appointment at this time, and can I call back later this afternoon?

ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!

Is it too early for a margarita?
