I started to write this last night--it is actually Saturday evening, no matter what the "'posted on" says--but I was completely wiped out after this past week. I couldn't even focus on the computer screen. So I am doing my Friday's Ten late. But better late than never, right?
Ten Bright Spots in an Otherwise Crazy Week
- My understanding husband who gladly brought home dinner and ran kids various places without complaining during this incredibly stressful week for both of us.
- Taking a quick break with said husband to our favorite coffee shop downtown at 10am during a very busy "work from home" morning for both of us.
- Dance started. Which brought the sparkle back to the eyes of my veteran dancer. She has returned to her element.
- Dance started. And the younger sister got to take her very first class this week. She was so adorable in her pink leotard and "ballerina bun with no wispies." She is counting the days until she gets to have class again.
- Having a long late-night conversation with my mentor teacher for whom I gain more respect every time I visit with her--as a mom, an educator, and a friend. She has a great sense of humor, too. Yesterday, while talking to her on the phone, I told her that I hoped the high school football team where I lived kicked the tail of the football team where she lives (they were playing each other last night). She repeated my comment to her high school daughter and then said, "I know, honey, I can't believe she said that. I am hanging up on her right now!!"
- Talking to a friend who moved half-a-continent away this summer, and hearing happiness in her voice for the first time since she moved there.
- My weekly Friday morning coffee date with one of my dearest friends (Many of my bright spots this week revolved around coffee).
- Finding out that I could still get my son signed up for flag football even though the deadline was long past--and only for a "small fee"
- Receiving my first paycheck. I don't think I have ever held a check representing that amount of money with my name in the "pay to the order of" spot.
- The promise that next week couldn't possibly be as crazy as this one was.

Hey stranger! I was starting to get concerned about you - very little blog activity and lots of phone tag this week. Don't worry -I understand!! Hang in there, it will get better. And then we'll go out and celebrate!!
